Wakanda Forever-The King Lives On

Updated: Mar 16, 2023

I hate to be rushed. I hate being rushed to feel things quickly or to make quick decisions.

I hate to feel grief. I hate to rush it. You can't put a time on death, when it's going to happen, or how much time it will take to heal.

Directed by Ryan Coogler and written by Joe Robbert Cole, one thing is for sure, and two things are for certain: time, money, and effort was put into making this film

<<<Spoilers Ahead>>>

The film starts with a tribute to King T'challa. The Marvel logo at the beginning of the film is a heavy hitter.

If you are not ready to enter the surreal world between grieving, acceptance, and healing. I wouldn't recommend watching it yet.

Some silent flashback scenes with the leading actor of the previous film "Black Panther" are emotionally intense.

My respect and deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Boseman.

I was hesitant to watch the film as the loss of Boseman was very devastating for fans within the MCU universe, the artist community, as well as, fans of his previous work

such as 42 (2013), Get Up On It (2014) Marshall (2017), and 2020s Da 5 Bloods.

However, Both the Director and the writer did an amazing job showing the grieving and healing process through Wakandas Princess Sheri, as well as, progressing the storyline for the MCU universe.

Special shout out to the costume designer for both Black Panther films Ruth Carter, As well as, The graphic design team, special effects, and production team for the plot design and the cinematic imagery. The vibrant colors of both Talokoan and Wakanda Nations are very detailed and aesthetically pleasing. Special thanks to The graphic design team, visual effects team, and production team for a job well done.

This female lead cast starts off March, Women's History Month, with a bang picking up the cast from the original film with a focus on its leading ladies within the Monarchy.

We get to see performances from Leticia White (Sheri), Lupita Nyong'o (Nakia), Dania Gurira (Okaye), Angel Basset (Ramonda), and the British star Michael Coel as Aneka. The leading male roles include the handsome and talented gentleman listed to the left<

It is very pleasing to see more scenes with Walking Dead's Dania Gurira. In one interview, Gurira states that performing her own stunts and training required for her long-standing role as Michonne in TWD helped prepare her for the role of the leader of the Dora Milaje, Okoye.

In a 2022 interview with Trevor Noah, Gurira states "To me, that's actually how you become the character. You can't become Okoye outside of how she knows how to fight." To read more about this interview

Eye-catching fight scenes with the Dora Milaje are accompanied by a graceful performance by the one and only: Queen of Wakanda. In each scene, the audience was blessed with received a poised, fierce, well-dressed, and baby-oiled Queen Ramonda.

Given a more prominent role in this film than the last, The Queen had the opportunity to speak more calmly with diction and wisdom that effectively showed her improved accent, as well as, watch how she changed the energy of any room she walked in.

Audiences get to see Angela Basset embody the role of queen. But as a household name and accomplished actor, it should be widely accepted that Mrs. Basset has been and will always be a true queen. One that many ladies and women of my time, the time before me, and the time after, will adore for her work.

If Aneka of the Dora Milage looks familiar to you, it's because she stars in the British comedy series "Chewing Gum". 2016's "Chewing Gum" is written by its lead actor Michael Cole. I'll be honest, I'm not looking forward to watching this off-beat series but for an opportunity to see more of Miss Cole's acting range, I will give it a try.
