"Indiana was the Dog's Name"

Updated: Dec 30, 2023

-Sean Connery as Henry Jones Sr 'The Last Crusade" (1989)

People on the radio have claimed, the new generations aren't going to see the latest Indiana Jones instalment because they just don't care.

As an 80s film fan, as an Action- film fan, a science-fiction fan, as a Cinematography Major, or as a Steven Spielberg fan, Indiana Jones movies will always be a classic family film for people of all ages and interest to enjoy.

You also have be a nuts to not show credit where its due.

Harrison Ford is one fine man and I don't care who knows it. Born on July 13th, 1942, in Chicago Illinois, Ford began acting in the 1960s with his first important role in 1973s "American Graffiti". Many didn't like his acting and said he would never make it in Hollywood but his career really took off after landing the role of Han Solo in 1977s Star Wars as Han Solo, as well as, its sequels "The Empire Strikes Back" (1980) and "Return of the Jedi" (1983).

In 1981, gold was struck when American Director and Producers casted Ford as the charming quick-witted professor and bullwhip totin' archeologist, Indiana Jones. Since then, the series has become an American Pop Culture Classic and I see why. The action adventure film features a well-read professor dedicated to education and the preservation of historical artifacts from evil villain's. Jones evades traps, deciphers ancient text, and thinks on the fly, ALL WHILE PREFORMING HIS OWN STUNTS!!!

The collection of Jones films can be found on Disney plus and they are worth your time as they have that 80s classic nostalgic feel. I loved 2008s Indiana Jones Crystal Skull cameos and return co-stars. Karen Allen joins the 2008 shenanigans as Marion Ravenwood and returns for another snake scene that is hilarious. But just before that we get a lovey argument scene ending with Indy shaking his head referencing the past film with the phrase " same old same old".

Sadly though, along the Jones timeline some comrades and Hollywood gems were lost. Earning Three BATFA Awards for Best Supporting Actor, Denholm Elliott, featured in Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and The Last Crusade (1989) as Dr. Marcus Brody, the curator of the National Museum and Dean of the school where Jones is a professor before passing away in 1992 . A Memorial for Dr. Brody is seen during the motorcycle chase scene in the 2008s instalment. Another dearly departed Hollywood Icon was Sean Connery, who was the first James Bond and stared in 1989s "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" along side Jones as his father, Henry Jones Sr. Connery passed away in October of 2020 due to respiratory failure at the age of 90. Cameo photos of both Jones Sr. and Dr. Brody is shown on Indiana's desk in the 2008 film.

Sean Connery's birthday is August 25, 1930. I'm going to spend the month of August watching the original 007 in action to pay tribute. More about Connery and his contributions to Film history can be found by clicking his <<<image

With such a legendary cast, it makes sense as to why Spielberg chose the tough, quick tempered, greaser version of Shia LaBeouf (Mutt Williams) as a co-star in The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008). LaBeouf was at the peak of his career during that time with the first instalment of the Transformer series just being released, but soon his fall from grace began when he botched an attempt to promote the the 4th movie of Indiana franchise in 2010 <<<Click Here To Read >>>

The honest comments he shared should have remained private but that was only the beginning of more unsettling public appearances. However, I have always been a Shia LaBeouf fan and grew up watching him progress as an actor. Despite the legal battles and spotty background , I hope he returns to the big screen. This time more stable, than before.

The interview below was released in 2022 and seems like a hopeful return for the actor. He has always seemed like a genuine person to me; passionate and focused. Here he admits his battles with his own ego were a distraction and he lets his fans see into his journey to better himself. I am glad he is doing okay. Nonetheless, I'm still sadden that Disney, and Director James Mangold did not want to involve him in the latest Indiana instalment.

Shia LaBeouf is a Los Angeles Californian native born on June 11th, 1986. Happy Belated LaBeouf and well wishes to you and your family.

As for the Indiana latest installment, I can't wait to see it. I am sure it will be just as nostalgic, action packed and comedic as his other films.
