Day 15: Different Perspective

Today's blog post will be different than the rest. I have a journal piece from my Library of thoughts (L.O.T).
I started writing this piece on the 15th day of quarantine and have decided to add, subtract, and edit the piece over these past few months of the shutdown.
What remained the same is the idea that we need to look at this shut down from a few different perspectives.
The other choice we have is to continue to gripe about the matter which doesn't help the situation and doesn't help you feel better.
This new form of stay-cation reminds me of the type of soul searching and quiet time, you get when you've moved into your first apartment. It's your safe zone, your workspace, or your peace of mind. During this time, you can get to know yourself better, learn your likes and dislikes, and really take time to reflect on your goals, things that challenge you, or understanding what your feeling and why you are feeling that way.
For me, I began to think of all the things I wanted to start or finish over the past couple of years. So, with this shutdown, I have decided to think of this time as just that.
Time to reflect, finish old projects and start new ones, challenge some of my shortcomings like procrastination, restlessness, denial, and stubbornness.
Speaking of the projects, I wanted to start was reviewing recent and old shows on television services to provide my self and other Netflix lovers with some closure. And I do just that with my last post on the NetFlix original series titled "You". Check it out and tell me what you think.
I have just finished season one and will provide updates soon. I have also started watching IZombie, Criminal Minds: Bau, and other new movie releases that deserve your attention. Subscribe to the website for updates.
If projects are not on your todo list than you could take this opportunity to reflect on the time you have and the time you have wasted. One would have to be a little silly to not be honest with themselves. Time is the construct that has becomes so clear and abundant as hours drag and days linger to nightfall then back to daylight again. As these lockdown-days drag on let's be productive and use it wisely because we all have wasted some precious moments.
For example, If we weren't on lockdown, I could walk the sidewalks without a mask. See the tremble of leaves against a light breeze and have the sun kiss my skin. Let my feet sink into the cool grass and between my toes. I could accept invitations to bonfires or attend graduation parties and birthday celebrations. With this abundance of time and my newfound appreciation for the events I'm missing out on, I will think twice before canceling an outing.
Maybe our lack of appreciation for the outdoors and the indoors is why we are experiencing this. Appreciate the four walls we so carelessly rush out of, miss the sun we shade from, and people we took for granted.
On social media, there are a lot of viewpoints about the pandemic. Some are religious saying this is a blessing in disguise, some are political theories questioning the government, while others are taking this as a sign to catch up with oneself. Which viewpoint are you taking?
Do you think this is a sign to slow down? Do you think this is your time of reflection? I am leaning towards acceptance. Acceptance that this was necessary to let my mind catch up with itself.
Last year, I had the unfortunate experience of breaking my foot and had the pleasure of enjoying an unexpected time out. Oh, how it was ugly. During that experience, I was bedridden and I recalled the reflection period I had went through when I had my first apartment.
I took the time to plan and organize my life. I wrote new material and I read new books and I got caught up on tv shows I wanted to review. So I guess you can say I have experience with isolation periods or just time to reflect. Moving into an apartment by my self was my choice and I was able to learn about my needs and wants as well as gain more understanding about my habits. Breaking my foot was not my choice yet, I still used the time to learn and grow.
So as fas this quarantine goes, it's no different. If we're being real with ourselves there are somethings we could work on whether its understanding and fixing our flaws or checking in with friends and family more, there is something we all could be working on. Growth and healing never stop and Sometimes we are forced to deal with things again to become better or we are stopped in our tracks to regain a sense of clarity.
Either way, use this time wisely despite how it came about. Stay Safe and thank you for reading.
Keep Open Ears, Eyes, and Mind 'Till Next Time!
