If you look through American history several women are responsible for bringing about social and political change. And when women form a group to meet common goals, they are a force to be reconded with.
Due to the many contributions of several women, March 8th has been selected as national women's day and from March 1st through March 30th, National Women's History is acknowledged and celebrated.
Did you know that 2019-2020 makes the 100th anniversary of women in the U.S attaining the right to vote?
In order to vote, women stood together as a reform group called the National American Suffrage Association.
This is also called the Suffrage Movement which was led by Elizabeth Cady Staton and abolitionist Susan B. Anthony. After years of fighting for women's suffrage, Susan B. Anthony passed on March 13, 1906.
Due to Her contributions and her successor, Carrie Chapman Catt, the 19th amendment was ratified on August 19, 1920. This was 14 years after Anthony's death and was later nicked name the Susan B. Anthony Amendmentinher honor.
Sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, councilwoman, actress, scientist, and advocate are just a few of the hats that extraordinary women wear.
Women have and still bring about change in political, cultural and everyday arenas. Women such as Rosa Parks, Oprah Winfrey, Tarana Burke, Maya Angelou, Angela Davis, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Other women that are celebrated during this time include important women figures such as our mothers, aunts, teachers, and mentors that have helped us become women and pushed to be our best selves. So use the Month of March wisely by taking the time to appreciate the women in your life and those that have paved the way for women equality.
Today's poem from my Libray Of Thoughts is titled Womanhood. to view last week's topic on bein a flower or leader >>click here>>>.

~Womanhood~
My hair will not be done at all times.
Nor do I take to domestics.
I love my quirks and smooth edges.
My energy supersedes any weight you see.
My heaviness is equivalent to the depth of love
And the height of joy.
An equation to mathematics is definite
unlike the weight of my essence, I
embrace my prowess
You see, weight has no strength on a goddess
So women, no matter the shape, race, or age,
Hold your chin high
And stand center stage.
